These are minimal in relation to prostatectomy. If standard HIFU treatment has been received, the side effects are limited to:

• mild to moderate urinary incontinence 8%
• urethral stenosis 8%
• sexual impotence 22% - 66%
• rectal bleeding and burning, more common in mulitple HIFU sessions
